Creating and Developing Lasting Relations
While the Trevallyn Bowls & Community Club is heavily involved in everything Lawn Bowls, it also boasts a strong connection with the community, including many local businesses and groups.
The club is extremely lucky to be surrounded by many wonderful business and organisations such as the Trevallyn Primary School, Trevallyn Gourmet Bakery, Trevallyn Cricket Club and the Trevallyn Grocer, just to name a few! The club’s longest lasting relationship continues to thrive with Legacy - a charity which provides services and financial aid to Australian families suffering as a result of injury or death of a family member during or after their time spent in the armed forces. This relationship has been continued for over 50 years with the club and it’s members actively involved in fundraising during this time.
Be sure to visit and support our surrounding organisations as we look to grow our community.
Legacy
Legacy is a charity providing services to Australian families suffering after the injury or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their armed force service. There are currently over 2000 people across Tasmania, and 52,000 across the country who rely on this ongoing support. There are still many affected families due to deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq – it is imperative that those families affected receive the support they need. The Trevallyn Bowls & Community Club has been a proud supporter of Legacy for the past 51 years while raising upwards of $120k worth of donations to help those affected most.
Trevallyn Cricket Club
We are very fortunate to be close neighbours with the Trevallyn Cricket Club which has stood the test of time since it’s foundation in 1929. The club is extremely proud of its roots and the history made along the way – the club is still in possession of every scorebook (bar one) of every game that has ever been played at Trevallyn. A number of their members frequent the bowls club for a refreshment and a yarn between themselves and our members and we are truly appreciative of their community spirit and support.
Trevallyn Gourmet Bakery
The Trevallyn Gourmet Bakery is located at 20a Gorge Road and has been a community favourite for over 20 years.
Specialising in a vast array of pastries, breads, donuts, slices and other delicacies you’re sure to find something for everyone. Their broad range of meat pies in particular tend to be their main attraction, closely followed by their freshly made bread. Tony and his team are passionate about their role within the Trevallyn community and have formed many strong connections with families across the suburb.
They pride themselves on delivering consistently good products – it’s the reason why so many local families and tradesmen opt to frequently visit – some families have been regular customers for well over a decade! Be sure to visit in store and keep an eye out on their Facebook page as they often release their highly fancied Nutella Hot Cross Buns for a limited time!
Trevallyn Primary School
Our little neighbours across the road come in the form of the Trevallyn Primary School. In 2016 the school celebrated their 100th year of existence and currently enrols close to 500 students between Kindergarten and Grade 6.
The school has continued to go from strength to strength, growing rapidly in size along the way with two new classrooms built in 2017 to help with the rapid expansion. It is greatly valued by its students and teachers as a natural learning environment boasting one of few natural playgrounds across the state. The school’s main fundraiser is the annual Taste of Trevallyn which never fails to draw a crowd looking to sample some exquisite food as well as activities for the entire family. Find out more about what’s going on at Trevallyn Primary School by visiting their website.
The Trevallyn Grocer
The Trevallyn Grocer and Delicatessen is a popular spot for locals to source some of the state’s best fresh produce from fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy (they also specialise in South African products). They are big supporters of local produce which is on display in the form of a great range of Tasmanian beers and wines. Whether you’re someone looking for exciting, new foods (including a growing organic range), a tourist looking to take home Tasmanian products or a local trying to avoid the rat race of the big supermarket, you’ll find what you’re looking for at the Trevallyn Grocer and Delicatessen.
